MTN to improve services in Awutu Senya West after Eugene Arhin's request
Telecommunication giant, MTN Ghana is set to improve its network connectivity within some deprived communities in the Awutu Senya West constituency in the Central Region. This follows a request the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Mr. Eugene Arhin made to the telecom giant in April 2021. In his letter to MTN Ghana, Mr. Arhin explained that the move will help open up such communities to development opportunities.
NHIA hastens investigations into cases of extortions
The National Health Insurance Authority is on a manhunt for credentialed service providers who are demanding extra money for medical services covered by the National Health Insurance Scheme. In collaboration with the law enforcement agencies, the Authority has hastened its investigations into widespread cases of extortions and will soon punish the offenders. This comes at the back of recent complaints by the NHIS members who are livid over the conduct of some service providers at the point of healthcare delivery.

Osafo Maafo-led committee submits final report on 2020 election to NPP leadership
The Osafo-Maafo-led 2020 Elections Review Committee has presented its final report to the leadership of the New Patriotic Party. John Boadu, the NPP General Secretary, who received the report on behalf of the party, commended the members of the Review Committee for doing an excellent job and gave them an assurance that the party would religiously peruse the report and take the necessary steps to implement the recommendations therein, some of which may require constitutional amendments. The Review Committee was set up by the party's National Executive Committee to make an honest and impartial inquiry into the facts and circumstances of the party's participation and performance in the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections, and to produce a comprehensive report with far-reaching implementable recommendations to improve the political and electoral fortunes of the party.

#FixTheCountry: Ghanaians to protest over 'government's broken promises' on May 9
A group of Ghanaians who are unhappy with what they call the economic challenges in the country have declared their intention to protest on May 9, 2021. The group has been expressing its displeasure over successive government's failure to improve the living standards of Ghanaians on Twitter using the hashtag #FixTheCountry. The group does not intend to deliver a petition to the presidency but will converge on Independence Square at 8:30 am for the march to commence at 9:30 am.
Suspect in Kasoa ritual killing declared minor by court
One of the boys involved in the alleged ritual killing of 11-year-old Ishmael Mensah at Lamptey Mills, a suburb of Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfro within the Ga South Municipality, has been declared as a minor. The case docket has been forwarded to the Attorney General's Department for advice while the case has been adjourned to May 19, 2021. Four persons including two teenagers, Felix Nyarko and Nicholas Kini are in the grips of the police for their alleged involvement in the killing of 11-year-old Ishmael Mensah supposedly for money rituals at Lamptey Mills.

Gayheart Mensah, a media practitioner of 33 years standing, has filed his nomination to contest for the Presidency of the Ghana Journalists Association. He was an Adjunct Lecturer in Advance Journalism and also Development Journalism at the Ghana Institute of Journalism. GMA demands prosecution of Christ Embassy leaders over COVID-19 protocol breaches
The Ghana Medical Association has asked for the immediate prosecution of the leadership of the Christ Embassy Church Ghana for allowing its members to flagrantly breach COVID-19 safety protocols at an event organized at the Fantasy Dome in Accra last Friday. The group, in a statement, said the church service was not only a potential super-spreader event but also unlawful and reckless, for which the organizers should not be allowed to go scot-free. Others including the Christian Council of Ghana, the health authorities, civil society organizations and some Members of Parliament have expressed outrage over the development and slammed the church over they say is its irresponsibility.
Methodist Church rejects GES directive to allow Muslim students to fast during Ramadan
The Methodist Church Ghana has kicked against the Ghana Education Service' directive to Wesley Girls' High School to allow Muslim students to partake in the Ramadan fast. The Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum had met with the Board of Wesley Girls' High School and advised the GES to put measures in place to address the concerns of Muslim students. The GES directive was welcomed by the Office of the National Chief Imam after it had also raised concern with the treatment of Muslim students.

La Liga has opened an investigation into whether Barcelona's players breached coronavirus regulations by attending a lunch at Lionel Messi's house.
